Absolutely spot on. This happens to me too often. I was actually swayed in my choice of air-conditioning installer by the fact that one of the quotes was addressed to “Mrs”. There was absolutely no indication in any thing the tradie had seen or heard that would indicate I had a husband. I have never had one. His readiness to leap to such an assumption spoke volumes.

Titles indicating marital status are outdated and should be done away with.
