My mother hasn’t attempted to contact me either. I think the most challenging thing is navigating the family relationships that I want to maintain, for my daughter as much as anything — she has cousins.

It’s interesting what you say about narcissistic grandparents and the “golden child". She definitely has one but it’s not my daughter. She was never going to be the favourite because I’ve brought her up to have a voice.
