I suppose I gave them an abridged version of my reasons for leaving - something along the lines of it not being a way of working that's suited to me. I think if I had made the decision to stay on I might have given a bit more away but it just didn't seem worth investing the energy in explaining myself to people I won't see again in a few weeks. I did have a very candid discussion about workplace trauma and neurodivergence with the manager of the centre a while back, mainly because she is so empathetic (it helps that she's trained as a psychologist). It's a shame really that my immediate work conditions are so removed from that.

The story is member only because all my stories are automatically behind the paywall otherwise I don't earn anything for them. I'm not really concerned about people I know reading it. Medium isn't even that well known in Australia where I live.
