Sure, it could be triggering for a lot of people but the impact will vary depending on a person’s neurology and general disposition. The way it would be experienced internally for an Autistic person is qualitatively different to a non-autistic person and I think that is why we are more acutely aware of our reactions. For me, a low tolerance for uncertainty and feeling like the world is spinning out of control are core elements of being autistic. I also have generalised anxiety disorder and the interaction with this shapes the experience. I don’t feel that it’s as much about labelling as having a framework for understanding the way my brain works and how I experience the world and how that may be different from other people. Having that understanding is empowering rather that limiting.
